Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation All Set for Saturday Bill Bottino Mud Run at New Jersey Motorsports Park
Millville, NJ. September 14, 2012.The Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation (BCCF) reported it is expecting its annual Bill Bottino Mud Run for Cancer event, scheduled for Saturday, September 15th at the New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP), to be sold out.
A special donation check presentation will be made during the 4 PM opening ceremonies by Bottino’s ShopRite, which may make the event the largest single-day cancer fundraising event in the State of New Jersey.
Bob Karan, President of the Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation (BCCF) reported, “We are cutting participants at 2,000, which is our comfort level for this year’s preparations. It is important for us to provide a high quality event, in memory and with respect of Barbara Cook and Bill Bottino, who both left us too soon because of cancer. We’re certain those participating will have a blast. And, even though the race may be sold out, we invite the public to come on out and watch the fun or attend the BBQ that follows the event along with the Candlelight Remembrance Walk.
Norm Walker, BCCF Mud Run Director reported, “We have over 30 fun obstacles on the course this year compared to only 20 last year. NJMP’s head of maintenance Paul Bonney and BCCF super volunteer Joe Profetto, have done a spectacular job of making a great course.”
BCCF Secretary Cynthia Kneiser Walker noted that the volunteer workforce tops more than 120 people. “It is heartwarming that so many people want to be a part of this great event. There’s a great atmosphere overall during the event with people having a load of fun and the Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation raises money to help in the battle against this terrible disease.”
Karan also stated, “We will again donate the proceeds to the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation and LIVESTRONG, two outstanding organizations that do a lot to support those with cancer in our area.”
