Meischke Christmas Wonderland of Lights Returns to NJMP Starting Nov. 24

Percentage of proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish® New Jersey

MILLVILLE, N.J. – A longstanding southern New Jersey tradition is returning to Millville and New Jersey Motorsports Park this holiday season.

The Meischke Christmas Wonderland of Lights, a holiday-themed display featuring over 250,000 lights, will open at the park on Saturday, November 24th.

The late Stanley “Chick” Meischke hosted the display at his residence in Delmont for 40 years attracting tens of thousands of families each holiday season. Beginning in 2011, NJMP partnered with the Meischke family to keep the tradition going in Chick’s name.

This year, the display will be posted at the Finish Line Pub, located at the heart of New Jersey Motorsports Park, creating a magical walkthrough display behind the clubhouse. Santa Claus will once again be available to hear Christmas lists and pose for pictures each night.

The Wonderland of Lights will be open Thursday through Sunday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. weekly beginning on Saturday, November 24th through Sunday, December 30th.

“We’re very happy to once again partner with the Meischke family and continue a wonderful tradition started by

Mr. Meischke and his family over 40 years ago,” said Brad Scott, NJMP general manager. “Our staff welcomes the local community to NJMP to celebrate the holiday season in a true winter wonderland environment.”

Admission is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 12-and-under, while children under 3-years-old are free. A percentage of proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish® New Jersey, continuing an annual tradition started by the Meischkes. Tickets can be purchased at the ‘Gate A’ entrance to the park each day the display is open.

Nightly parking for this event will be free once again in 2012, with concessions available behind the clubhouse. This year’s Meischke Christmas Wonderland of Lights is powered by Atlantic City Electric.

American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association coming to NJMP in 2013

Group known for massive Barber Vintage Festival will visit Millville August 2-4th

MILLVILLE, N.J. – Vintage motorcycle enthusiasts: mark your calendars for the first weekend of August 2013.

The American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association, AHRMA, will bring North America’s largest tour of vintage and modern alternative racing motorcycles to Thunderbolt Raceway on August 2-4, 2012.

AHRMA, which traces its roots to the late 1970’s, offers vintage national and regional road racing, motocross, dirt track, observed trials and cross-country competition. The vintage machines featured in the association’s events span a full 50 years, from the 1920s to the early 90s. AHRMA Road Racing also features “modern” alternative classes for single, twin, and three-cylinder machines.

Sonoma Raceway, Road America, Barber Motorsports Park, Miller Motorsports Park and Daytona International Speedway are just a few of the other tracks on the 2013 AHRMA Road Racing schedule.

AHRMA is perhaps best known for putting on the competition events at the annual Barber Vintage Festival, which drew 57,000 spectators over a 3-day span in October. That event has become so popular with AHRMA road racers that entry limits had to be enforced.

“We’re looking to put together a festival-type experience with AHRMA, similar to what they helped build at Barber,” general manager Brad Scott said. “We want this to be a premiere event on our schedule for years to come. Swap meets, bike shows, auctions, vendors, all in addition to the racing; two-wheel fans of all ages are going to be very pleased with this announcement.”

The diverse slate of activities will be announced closer to the event, according to Scott.

AHRMA Executive Director David Lamberth also commented on the event announcement, which made the association’s first trip to New Jersey official.

“AHRMA is thrilled to be participating in bringing our national roadracing series to New Jersey Motorsports Park. We are confident that our association with NJMP will allow both organizations to assemble a top-quality festival-style event that will become a “must-attend” weekend for vintage racers and spectators alike.”

AHRMA joins at least one GEICO AMA Pro Road Racing date on NJMP’s 2013 schedule, in addition to the ARCA Racing Series, and two vintage sportscar weekends featuring the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and Vintage Racer Group (VRG), respectively.

Fifth Annual Coats For Kids Drive at NJMP Boosted By Corporations, Community and Racers

Coat Drive Makes a Difference for over 500 Cumberland County Children from 19 Schools; Subaru, Bottinos’ Shoprite and South Jersey Industries Play Major Roles

MILLVILLE, N.J. – Over 500 local school children are scheduled to visit New Jersey Motorsports Park on Friday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit from the “Coats For Kids” holiday program hosted by the NJMP Green Flag Children’s Charities.

Cumberland County elementary and middle school students, selected by their school, will choose a brand new winter coat, a pair of gloves or mittens, a hat and a scarf, a book, a pair of slippers and enjoy a hot, healthy lunch, plus a visit with Santa. Each item has been donated to the drive by corporations, Green Flag Committee members, individuals from the South Jersey region and generous support from the motorsports community.

“The support of the corporate and local volunteer community in providing these students with warm-weather clothing is heartwarming,” said Patti Mackie, co-chairperson of the Coats for Kids committee.

“This is one of those special events we look forward to hosting every holiday season,” said Brad Scott, general manager of New Jersey Motorsports Park. “We’re thankful for the support of the community and we’re pleased that over 500 children in Cumberland County will benefit from the coat drive.”

“The Green Flag Children’s Charities was created to support local children’s-based organizations,” said Don Fauerbach, founder of the NJMP Green Flag Committee. “For the fifth year in a row we are providing children in need from Cumberland County with warmth and happiness during the holidays. We’re thankful for the support of our corporate sponsors, our community, and our volunteers who have helped us raise the funds necessary to accomplish this special goal for these special children.”

Leading the corporate contribution list are Subaru of America, Shoprite and South Jersey Industries with their generous contributions of funds, food and apparel. Subaru is the Official Vehicle of New Jersey Motorsports Park. Bottinos’ Shoprite Stores are donating, preparing and serving the complete lunch for the children and South Jersey Industries is providing funding to purchase a portion of the winter wear.

The motorsports community has come on strong in support of this year’s coat drive. The South Jersey Region of the Sport Car Club of America (SCCA) conducted a funds drive to benefit the upcoming event, raising hundreds of dollars to help purchase additional winter coats during their recent regional races held at NJMP.

In addition to the Coats For Kids program, NJMP plays host to a number of community fund raising events throughout the year. The facility also annually hosts the Barbara Cook and Bill Bottino Mud Run For Cancer and a Daytona 500 viewing party that raises funds for the Green Flag Children’s Charities. Miss Teen, Miss NJMP, Miss F1 Karting titles up for grabs in Millville on November 24th

Park partners with Miss Seashore Line 2012 Angelica Nardi to present 2nd annual pageant

MILLVILLE, N.J. – New Jersey Motorsports Park and Miss Seashore Line 2012 Angelica Nardi are preparing for the 2nd annual Miss NJMP and Miss Teen NJMP pageant, taking place at the park on November 24th, 2012.

This year’s contestants attended a formal orientation at the park on Sunday, November 4th.

Both Miss NJMP and Miss Teen NJMP will attend events and make appearances on behalf of the park during the 2013 season.

New for this year’s pageant, a Miss F1 Karting title is also on the docket, with the winner set to represent the park’s world-class karting facility.

Contestants will be judged on their private interview, racetrack fashion, swimsuit (Miss NJMP only), fitness wear (Miss Teen NJMP only), evening gown, and on-stage question.

Nardi, who was also named Miss Cumberland County in 2011, is excited to once again partner with the park and organize the event.

“Miss NJMP and Miss Teen NJMP has been a lot of work to put together, but has turned out to be very successful,” Nardi said. “All proceeds from this competition go to The Children’s Miracle Network, and NJMP has been so helpful. We’re all looking forward to meeting the wonderful contestants and crowning Miss NJMP and Miss Teen NJMP 2013.”

Kellie Santoro, 2012 Miss Teen NJMP, will be competing for the Miss NJMP title in this year’s pageant.

“It’s been such a great honor to be able to represent New Jersey Motorsports Park. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’d do it all over again, which is why I’m running for the Miss NJMP at the upcoming pageant,” said Santoro. “I’ve met so many amazing people and I will never forget the events and all that I was able to do in the last year.”

2012 Miss NJMP Holly Schaper echoed Santoro, saying that the program has also had a profound impact on her.

“Participating in the pageant [last year] was just something I thought would be fun to do with my sister. I had no idea that it could change my life. It taught me to take chances; you never know what they could lead to or where you will end up.”

The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Officer’s Club, located at Thunderbolt Raceway, with tickets available at the door for $10.

NJMP Rallycross Round 4 set for December 8th as teams prepare for 2012 finale

JSC Speed to present first-ever ‘Winter Rally’ event at Lightning Raceway; F1 Karting offers one-day special offer

MILLVILLE, N.J. – Potentially raw, cold December conditions will provide the atmosphere for the first-ever “Winter Rally” event  set to take place at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Saturday, December 8th.

The final in a series of four races at Lightning Raceway in 2012, the event features Rally-style cars where five drivers line up to start all at once piloting high horsepower compact cars jumping and sliding through race traffic over a challenging short road course.

The course is made up of pavement, gravel, featured jumps, unbanked turns, hills, and transitions. Each participant must also take a “joker” lap, a small detour over a jump that adds a level of unpredictability to each heat, at some point.

Originally scheduled for November, the event was moved due to teams’ requests for more time to repair their cars after the wheel-to-wheel action Round 3 produced in October.

In addition to $10 tickets for Round 4, the park’s F1 Karting facility is offering a special, one-day experience for Rallycross fans. An optional $10 add-on to the basic event ticket will allow the holder to take to one of F1 Karting’s world-class course configurations for a 10 minute session, redeemable only on the race date, December 8th.

Tickets, with or without the $10 karting special, are available by calling (856) 327-8000 or online by logging on to njmp.com/winterrally

“We’re excited to introduce this new concept of cold-weather rallycross racing in New Jersey to our fans,” said NJMP general manager Brad Scott. “With the addition of the optional 10 minutes of karting at F1 for just $10, we feel this will be an exciting year-end event for us.”

Participating drivers and teams can register for Round 4 online at motorsportreg.com.
