BARBARA COOK CANCER FOUNDATION DONATES RECORD BREAKING $150,000 TO SOUTH JERSEY HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION AND LIVESTRONG®

October 16, 2012. Vineland, NJ.             The Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation (BCCF) donated a record breaking $150,000 in its battle against the deadly disease by presenting checks for $75,000 to both the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation and LIVESTRONG during a check presentation ceremony at the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation office.

BCCF President Robert Karan stated, “We feel a sense of great accomplishment being able to donate $150,000 from the proceeds of this year’s Bill Bottino Mud Run. This is a 50% increase of what was donated last year, and we believe it is the largest one-day fundraising event in the history of Cumberland County. And to be able to do this in these challenging economic times makes it all the sweeter.”

Director of South Jersey Healthcare Foundation Carolyn Heckman stated, “I want to thank the Barbara Cook Foundation for another very successful event this year. What a wonderful tribute to Barbara Cook and to Bill Bottino to bring the community together for such a noble cause and to have some fun as well. South Jersey Healthcare is so grateful to be a recipient of the profit from this event. Cancer is no respecter of persons and it has taken the lives of two wonderful people, Barb and Bill. We treat patients everyday suffering from various types of cancer. Together with the many other institutions that are participating in research, we will find a cure.”

“We’re so grateful to the participants of the Bill Bottino Mud Run,” said Doug Ulman, president and CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. “We never could have dreamed we’d have the number of dedicated supporters and volunteers worldwide to serve so many people and families affected by cancer when the foundation began 15 years ago. With the help of organizations like the Bill Bottino Mud Run, survivorship has become a household word, and that is truly great progress.”

Cindy Kneiser Walker, local LIVESTRONG representative and BCCF Board member exclaimed, “We are so inspired by the individuals and teams that fundraised for the event and helped us to raise an additional $30,000 for these worthy organizations. All of this money will go a long way in supporting people facing cancer. It is wonderful to know that anyone can get free help from LIVESTRONG, in Spanish or English, simply by calling 855-220-7777 or visiting LIVESTRONG.org.”

Donald Fauerbach, BCCF Vice-President reported that the number of participants nearly double from the previous year. “The weather was perfect, and with over 1900 participants, three live bands, a DJ, great BBQ and a wonderful Kids Zone, the New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Thunderbolt Raceway became a wonderful atmosphere of fun and fundraising,” stated Fauerbach.

It is believed that the 5th annual Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation’s Bill Bottino Mud Run is one of the top one-day cancer fundraising events in the state of New Jersey held by all volunteers. Karan noted, “The perfect combination of having a dedicated committee, incredible in-kind supporters and amazing volunteers, plus major sponsors and especially the Bottino family involvement makes all of this possible. We’ve already started planning for a bigger and better event for 2013. We expect to be announcing plans soon for an amazing 2013 event.”

Bottino’s ShopRite provided an initial $75,000 donation from their summer long cancer fundraising efforts that included four days of special events at their Millville, Vineland, Upper Deerfield Township and Washington Township stores respectively. Jim Bottino, President of Bottino ShopRite Stores and brother of Bill Bottino, Sr., also thanks the loyal customers and vendors for their support in this major fundraiser.

The 2013 date will again be held at New Jersey Motorsports Park and the actual date will be confirmed before the end of the year. For updates on the event and date, visit www.BarbaraCookCancerFoundation.org.

Tornetta, American Red Cross Penn Jersey Communications Manager. “The upcoming blood drive on July 21st is vitally important to build a supply of blood that will help safeguard against a summer blood shortage.”

“We’re very proud to once again partner with the American Red Cross and host the blood drive at NJMP,” stated Brad Scott, General Manager, New Jersey Motorsports Park. “We know the community embraces this event each year and we welcome everyone back to participate again for 2012,” added Scott.

MILLVILLE, NJ – June 8, 2012 New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP), located at 8000 Dividing Creek Road in Millville, NJ, will host The All-American Race Weekend presented by Global Barter Corporation, June 30 – July 1, 2012, featuring ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, five supporting races & much, much more!

“As we kick off July 4th holiday week celebrations, NJMP’s on- and off-track events and activities are sure to please both motorsports enthusiasts and spectators alike,” stated Brad Scott, General Manager, NJMP.  “And with most of our events, we offer free admission to kids 12 years of age & younger,” added Scott.

The on-track activities for the weekend will be the ARCA Racing Series, considered by some to be one of the most exciting racing series in the nation, plus the supporting series Trans Am Pro, Formula Atlantic, F2000, F1600 and Trans Am Vintage pitting some seriously powerful internationally constructed sports cars and open wheel cars on NJMP’s Thunderbolt Raceway.  Taking place on NJMP’s Lightning Track all weekend, June 29 – July 1, is Sports Car Club of America’s (SCCA) Regional with racing covering the full range of classes from formula style grand prix cars to ground pounding GT’s, from stock and touring racers to sports prototypes— and once again the popular TreadZone Pro IT Series.

Additionally, the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will display 20+ vintage stockcars for new and veteran fans alike to photograph, meet the constructors and get autographs from some of the famous drivers of these historic short track racers. The vintage stockers will present two “demonstration” races during the weekend, plus 1961 Daytona 500 winner Marvin Panch, one of NASCAR’s legendary all-time top 50 drivers, will be on hand for autographs and to take the wheel of a vintage stock car during both on-track sessions.

For the weekend’s off-track events, NJMP is pulling out all the stops with Motorcycle Stunt Shows with Tony Carbajal, Fan Walk, Drivers Meet & Greet, Monster Truck Rides, Face Painting, Vendor Partners, Green and Checkered Flag Experiences, Soul Dancers Performances, Food Eating Contest and more.

NJMP’s food and beverage offerings for the weekend will include a Turn-3 Party at the Officers Club on Sunday, July  1 (only)— a great place to watch all of the racing action, complete with BBQ & Live Band starting at 10 a.m. for just $20 per person with cash bar. All weekend long the popular Smokehouse and Concession menu items will be showcased, and The Finish Line Pub at the Clubhouse will host the regular Never-Ending Happy Hour on Friday, Steak Night- featuring live DJ music, on Saturday and All-U-Can-Eat Pasta Dinner on Sunday.

And, a few great promotions are taking place for The All-American Race Weekend:

·         With every ARCA ticket purchased, attendees will get “2 for the price of 1,” in being able to enjoy all the activities and events taking place on both Thunderbolt and Lightning tracks all weekend long.

·         Again for this year, NJMP is hosting “Cumberland County Residents’ Day,” on Friday (June 29 only), whereby all residents (with proof of residency) will gain admission to NJMP for just $1 per person and will also be able to enjoy $1 parade laps (in their own cars; registration required), $1 hot dogs and $1 soft drinks.  Free admission for kids 12 years of age & younger, and Cumberland County-based businesses can have free vendor space during The All-American Race Weekend at NJMP (pre-registration is required by contacting sponsorship@njmp.com).  Gates open at 10 a.m. and parade laps begin at 12:30 p.m.

·         For those looking for some new wheels, NJMP is giving away a Yamaha Zuma Scooter, valued at $3,000, (currently on display at the Clubhouse at NJMP). The first 500 people who purchase a 2-Day ARCA event ticket will automatically be entered to win it (must be present to win/winner will be presented with scooter at end of ARCA race on Sunday, July 1, 2012)!

Additionally, as The All-American Race Weekend is heading into the July 4th holiday week, NJMP is supporting various Veterans’ organizations, among them being through participation in the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Custom Rod and Antique Car Show taking place at the Vineland National Guard Armory on Saturday, June 30, which starts at Noon.
