First up, the Sports Car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) Thunderbolt Inaugural Race. The SVRA will roar into NJMP with the finest assortment of Vintage race cars from around the world. Expect to see historic Can-Am cars, Vintage Formula 1, and many famous Trans-Am muscle cars as you walk through the paddock. | Continuing the month long grand opening celebration will be the 33rd annual Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) national convention. SAAC-33 thunders into town celebrating the famous cars built by Shelby American in the 1960's. You will be delighted by the sights and sounds of Ford GT-40s, 427 AC Cobras, Daytona Coupes, and GT-350 Mustangs. The event features a Vintage Mustang and Cobra race, a late- model Mustang race, and a concours car show. As a very special treat, there will also be track time available for owners of Ford Powered vehicles. | The Grand Opening celebration at New Jersey Motorsports Park concludes with the premier road-racing series in the United States, Grand-Am. This year's weekend event at NJMP will host multiple races featuring all classes of the Rolex sponsored series including Daytona Prototype, and GT, as well as the Koni Challenge, and the Moto-ST which is Grand- Am's own Superbike race series. In addition to all this great Grand Am action, race fans will also enjoy the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, which will feature 25-30 equally prepared FR500S Mustangs, adding a true muscle car element to the weekend! The BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda is also on tap, the only open-wheel races on the weekend. This is Skip Barber’s entry level pro series – 30 young, very hungry drivers in identically prepared Skip Barber Formula 2000 race cars. In addition, the Ferrari Challenge will add European flair to the event featuring equally prepared Ferrari F430s competing on Thunderbolt Raceway. | The Focus on this weekend will be the Future of Motorsports and will feature the premier Mazda-based open wheel series in North America. Meet the Rising Stars as they try to make their mark and climb the Motorsports Ladder. The weekend will feature the Atlantic Championship and Two races in the Star Mazda Championship. The brightest up and coming young drivers will all be coming to New Jersey Motorsports Park. SCCA Pro Racing will bring several classes including SPEED World Challenge GT, Touring Cars, and the Volkswagen TDI Cup Series. Formula BMW will add open wheel excitement to the weekend with their FB2 racecar driver development series.
